Smart, powerful value February 18, 2009 Zaine Ridling (Missouri, US) 24 out of 26 found this review helpful
This attractive Sharp 308 model is virtually the exact same as the 402, 410, and 420 models. Its 1100 watts cooks everything fast, but it's surprisingly quiet when running. Stack your biggest food portions on the edges of your plate when warming. It also has plenty of cool tricks and tips, such as shortcut keys and you can mute all the bells and whistles by pressing a simple 3-key sequence. It's bigger than my previous 1.0cu.ft. microwave, but well worth it. Whatever you do, this is like buying a new phone: READ THE MANUAL and everything will seem simple and make sense. I'm very happy with it.
Cons? I wish the START and STOP pads were larger. However, if I use my first knuckle I have more success than my thumb or fingernail. Go figure.
Great Value - Very Powerful August 30, 2009 Renee Bradley 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This microwave DEFROSTS PERFECTLY with no cooked edges. I've only had this unit for six days but I am thoroughly impressed. This replaced a GE that cost four times as much and quit working after only 2 1/2 years (and didn't perform nearly as well as this Sharp). At this price, even if it lasts only a couple of years, I feel it will have been money well spent.

Bought this microwave as a replacement for a Kenmore that died.
Appearance: sleek
Performance: great
Would I buy it again? Absolutely
Good value, plenty of even power December 19, 2009 M. Stewart (Texas, USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This microwave is nice and compact, yet it has a roomy interior that will handle just about anything. The turntable rotates in both directions, allowing more even heating of foods. I have had excellent results in reheating leftovers.
The keypad is quick and easy enough to use for your standard time input of minutes and seconds. It is also easy to use the keypad as a count-down timer; just punch in the minutes and seconds, and "Timer". The one-minute button is just a single push; no need to hit "Start" also.
The "shortcut" features are extremely complex and end up taking more keystrokes than to just punch in the time. To use the "Popcorn" shortcut button, you have to punch that button several times, depending on the size of the bag. Some of the shortcut keys have been useful, but deciphering how many times to hit the button will require a lot of practice or keeping the manual handy. The "Power Level" button requires pushing it up to ten times to select 90%, 80%, .... levels.
Noisy But Nice October 21, 2009 C. Stuewe-Portnoff (Columbia, MO USA) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
This microwave looks good and operates well, as microwave ovens go. What I wish I'd known: (1) It's noisy. Specifically, it's loud when operating and the door cannot be opened and closed quietly. (2) The keypad for setting time and power level is not intuitive or self-explanatory - requires reading the manual and memorizing sequences for different functions. (3) Food is not always evenly heated, and popcorn will burn before it stops popping, unless the power level is reduced. This model is larger than most compacts, a couple of inches too big to fit on many standard microwave carts, so it's taking up counter space - my fault, should have measured for this before ordering. All in all, it does the job.
