I was skeptical... February 2, 2009 Reviewing From Virginia 19 out of 20 found this review helpful
I had heard that these "micro fridges" really didn't keep food cool, but I really needed something for my snacks at work, since food items often disappear from the community refrigerator. The price was great, and I have to say I am really pleased with this product. It's a little loud (sounds like you're running a fan on low) but you get used to that. It keeps all of my food cold. It's been great to keep me on track eating healthier snacks that I bring from home.
Keeps Cool, but Loud March 30, 2009 New Mom (Chicago, IL) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I debated for awhile on which mini-fridge to purchase and finally settled on this one. I wanted a mini-fridge to keep in my 3rd floor bedroom (kitchen is on the 1st floor) for snacks and yogurt smoothies since I am pregnant and sometimes wake up in the middle of the night starving. The fridge arrived on time. It is very lightweight and compact and comes with an adapter for use in a car. This model does not come with an interior shelf. I was disappointed with how loud the fan/motor is! It is about as loud as a table fan on the high setting. Way too loud for me to keep in my bedroom, but if you are the type of person who likes loud white noise it might be good for you. I moved it into my walk-in closet and have made sure to keep a few inches of open space around it on all sides so it can vent. I just used it for the first time last night to keep a yogurt smoothie cold and it worked just fine. The smoothie came out even a bit colder than it would be from the fridge, which I like! I have not used the heat setting yet. I plan to turn the fridge off when I'm not using it (it only takes 30 mins to get to the temperature needed once turned on). Hopefully it doesn't quickly break down on me the way some reviews on other similar products have stated.
May just be the adaptor, not the fridge November 7, 2009 E. Swann Cute little thing and kept my already cold foods nice and cold for lunch, but died after a month. Folks were stealing lunches out of our common fridge, so thought this would help. Kept it under the desk. It's like the fan tries to start very slowly and then just shuts off. Was under the desk with good airflow there because the fan was a bit noisy. Saw another review that the adaptor for the car works. Plugged it in there and the fridge appears to be fine. So....going to get a new adaptor (sold farther down on this Amazon page) and see what happens. Don't trash the fridge without checking the adaptor first.
great item but noisey January 31, 2010 Gail G. Carlson (chicago, illinois) The mini fridge is nice but very noisy to a point of disturbing my co-workers. I plugged it in for whole 30 minutes and it was pretty annoying even to me to hear it. I have not tried using it since.
Other than that I would recommend it if someone has more privacy then I have in my cubicle. Leave your radio on to mask the noise!
Adaptor burned out after 1 month June 18, 2009 Mary L. Martin (Harrisburg, NC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this fridge for work and ran it M - F and turned it off on weekends. It was a little too small for me and then the motor stopped running after about 4 or 5 weeks. The AC adaptor appears to have burned out. Plug into car still works.
